Hello, this is my first time posting so if this is in the wrong place or improperly formatted please let me know

I am having issues with my home network. it currently consists of; two servers (file and virtual machines), two wired pcs (used for Gaming and general pc stuff), approximately 5 wireless devices and two raspberry pis running rasbmc connect via Ethernet. these are all hooked up together using two 5-port gigabit unmanaged switches and one wireless router.

Please excuse my crude paint skills

My issue is that my wireless router creates a separate subnet leaving my wireless devices unable to connect to my file server. i have tried replacing one of the RPi and connecting one of the wireless routers 'LAN' ports to switch 2 and this works for a while, my wireless devices are able to access my file server. unfortunately after a period of time, this can go from a mere ten minutes to several days my wireless devices lose all internet connection and PC1 shows a limited internet connection. this can be resolved by power cycling the wireless router or disconnecting its lan port from switch 2

The model numbers for my devices are as follows:
Switch 1- Netgear ProSafe GS105
Switch 2- TRENDnet TEG-s50g
Wireless Router- Dlink DIR-615
The connected Ethernet devices are all windows based (8 and server 2012r2) except for the raspberry pis which are linux

So basically i want to be able to access my file server form my mobile devices but not at the stability the whole network. what is the best way to go about doing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Alex

Solution
You need to change your D-Link to an access point rather than use it as a router. See the D-Link forum post -- http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0

Your loss of connectivity sounds like an IP address conflict somewhere. Your D-Link would still have a DHCP server if you didn't disable it.

Your "Modem" in the drawing, must actually be a modem/router combo.
