ASUS Motherboard doesn't boot suddenly

Hey, everyone!

This morning I turned off my hardly half-year old PC with no problem. I usually turn the power switch off as well. So far I've encountered no problems with this method, I do it everyday.

Just a few hours ago when I tried turning it on, it won't go further than the ASUS mobo logo. I can't enter BIOS in any way, it seems frozen and non-responding. Normally, it would just start loading within a few seconds but now it just sits there.

I checked the fans, the CPU fan is running, it's all fine. There are no unusual beeps or missed ones, it's still the same beep as everyday when I turn it on. I have tried removing and putting the RAM sticks back in, just for safety but I get nothing.

Recently (a month ago) I installed an SSD into it which has been working perfectly fine so far. Last Sunday I asked my brother to help me put a HDD 3,5" adapter in, for the SSD, and another SATA3 cable I have purchased separately for my optical drive, as the ones given with the mobo were already used.

I am completely clueless as what to do. Please, any solutions are welcome.

My specs:

Asus H97-PLUS mobo
Intel Core i5-4690
Asus R9 290X DirectCU II OC
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD
WD Black 1TB HDD

I had a very similar problem, for me it was the way i had my BIOS set up to boot. I fixed my boot order/set up and so far ive had no problem with it locking up on my boot.

I'm sorry, I did state that I cannot access the BIOS?

It's frozen on the mobo's logo screen. No further load, nothing. No button combinations (F2, Del) work to enter the BIOS.

Look at your motherboard, and somewhere on it, will be a pair of metal pins sticking up that are labeled "BIOS RESET". With the power off, very carefully, take a flathead screwdriver and short those 2 pins, and ONLY those 2 pins together. You do not want the screwdriver to touch anything but those 2 pins.

Then turn the power back on. Wait a few seconds, about the time you would have seen the system pass the post sequence in the past, and then remove the screwdriver, again, very carefully. If the machine does not boot up. Power back down. Wait 30 seconds, and power back up.

Let us know what happens.

Frankly, I haven't even had to get there.

I have tried mcnumpty23's solution, it didn't work. I have tried starting to unplug everything, starting with SATA cables for optical drive and hard drives. I even tried a different keyboard in case it was my kb's fault. In the end, submitting to failure, I re-plugged the SATA cables and went on doing something else for a while to take my mind off of it.

I left the main power cable unplugged, though. I later re-plugged it (like 10-15 mins later), and tried turning it on (ofc, I forgot the power switch) first. Then with power. And suddenly, it works. It went away as surprisingly as it came. I have no idea wtf happened and what fixed it, or if my latest method even did anything special to it.

Anyway, from now on, I'll avoid turning the main power switch off for the night.
