So the Issue is that when I plug headphones into the line out slot on the motherboard, I have sound. But no sound coming through my TV, which is hooked up to the GPU with an HDMI cable.
So I've been having some incredibly bad luck on my venture in building a PC. I built it all fine, had some issues with graphics card firmware, fixed that, installed windows. After installing windows 8.1, I began downloading the latest drivers for my motherboard (ASUS Z97 PRO WiFi ac), I downloaded Steam, and Flash player, all from the official ASUS, Steam and Adobe websites. Then I started getting pop ups, lots of them. So after some rummaging, I discovered I had a nice little Trojan virus, I literally have no idea how I got it, I'm totally baffled. Anyway, at that point, the sound was working perfectly through my TV (Panasonic Vierra).
After reinstalling windows, downloading the same drivers as before, I had no audio coming through my TV. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, had Windows check that they were the latest versions, and then uninstalled them again and reinstalled them from the official Realtek website, just to be absolutely sure they were correct and up to date. Still no sound.
So I plugged my headphones in, and the sound is working perfectly through them. Also, the windows audio thing shows sound coming through, you can see the audio bar flickering up and down as a video or song plays, but still no sound through the TV
Any help here is really appreciated, I'm getting near to the end of my tether with this stuff! Thanks in advance for any helpful replies.
