Hi,

I got a new pair of memory modules 2x2GB DDR2, but when I boot into my Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS the system freezes after successfull login, roughly after 1,5 minute.

Additional notes:
- works w/o issues in Windows 7 64 bit Safe Mode
- works w/o issues in Windows XP 32 bit

I have tried to make a clean boot, did not helped :/

Memtest was running for 12,5 hours, 7 passes, 0 errors.

btw.
What are those JEDEC #1 #2 #3 setups in CPU-Z SPD Tab?
Are those the possible / recommended timings for the RAM?

Solution
Hi...
no, it does not happen with my old memory modules.
I am even able to run the Windows XP 32bit with mixed memories in a 6GB dual channel mode, same for the Windows 7 64bit in Safe Mode.

My current PC specs:
MB: Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H rev.2
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 64 - 5000+ @2,6Ghz
RAM: A-Data Vitesta Extreme Edition 2x 1GB DDR2 @800MHz @2.0V
placed in the DIMM_2 and DIMM_3 slots (in BIOS Wattage set to +0.200, rest should be set to AUTO iirc)
OS: Dual boot: Win XP SP3 32-bit / Win7 Home Premium 64bit

The new memory modules are... no idea what sort of brand.
I bought them from bazaar as 2nd hand, but not used (may be true or scamm).
The seller taged them as Patriot Modules, and I got them delivered in original Patriot pack...

but when I run the CPU-Z it describes them as Kingston brand and shows way different values as shown on the booklet that came with the delivery.
There is also no sticker on the memory modules, no serial number, nothing by what I could identify them :/
Any idea?

detailed info can be found also over here (seems nobody cares to answer it as it is quite long and descriptive :s)

Looks like you are having timing issues (memory mismatch) between memory brands to me. I would take the slowest timings and set them all in bios to the same timings. Also on the tag of the A-Data memory it says that it uses between 2.0 and 2.1 volts, but you said that it was at 1.8 volts. This can cause memory issues. The only way i know that you can fix your problem is that you get memory that is matched or slow them all down and manually set the timings that will work. The second option will slow your computer down. I would recommend that you ditch this memory and get all 4 matched modules.

Thanks for answering, but it is not caused by this either.
For several reasons:
1.) I have already adjusted the timings, did not helped (this includes Voltages as well)
2.) In Safe Mode (Win7 64bit) it works without any trouble in both variations - mixed RAMs or just the "Patriot" ones.
3.) In Win XP 32bit they work without any trouble, again in both variations - mixed RAMs or just the "Patriot" ones

But as soon as I try to boot into Win 7 64bit with the "Patriot" RAMs only (not mixed with A-Data) with correct settings on timings and Voltage, the OS loads to Desktop, and Freezes after 1m:30s

I even tried Clean Boot, disconnected all HW not needed, disabled all drivers and turned them on one by one, but the result was always the same, W7 64bit freezes with the new RAM, with mixed it does not even boots correctly and throws an BSOD during logo boot-up.

When I get the time in next several couple of days I will completely wipe the HDD, recreate partitions and instal once again W7 64bit anew, but this time I will not install any fuggin updates recommended by some "security app"... because that's the reason why I get those issues. If even this try will fail, I am out of ideas and give up on it and garbage the Win7 64bit for eternity.

I will come back with the results when I get to it.
