looking on upgrading the GPU and ram at this time
usage will be still the same but now will be using blender, Photoshop, rivet, soildworks and gaming plant side 2 when i have free time

Been a while since i have picked parts so not sure if these two will work or if there are better parts out there. Would like to stay with nvida since blender only support their cards for rendering at this time and i have had problem with ati cards in the pass.
so far picked
gpu = EVGA 04G-P4-3966-KR GeForce GTX 960 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 SLI Support SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card (4g to help with render blender use nvida to render )

Ram= G.SKILL Sniper Gaming Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-16GSR (just going to add on so i have 22G at the end not sure if this is a good idea)

would like to spend 100 to 350
Thanks you if you need more info let me know

Older MBs don't always like mixing memory, check the manual for compatibility issues, speed, voltage, and configuration, before ordering.
Adding a GTX960 should boost performance nicely.
Look into overclocking, the current i7 can be given a good boost with a little time and a decent cooler.

Thank for the info about the ram, i dont have the manual anymore lost it when i was moving. but if i cant use what i have that will be fine since im going from 6g to 16g that should be more then enough.

im not sure how to overclock the cpus but i have a ZALMAN CNPS9900ALED 120mm 2 Ball Low-noise Blue LED CPU Cooler. on it right now.

will i have any power problems with the 960 or is there a better card out there for this price range. the ram i have picked out is at 100 so that leave 250 for the gpu

ok thank you Ill look into a evga 970 and see if its my price point if not ill just go with the 960.
Since you said overclocking is easy i have give it a go and am at 3.2mhz on the i7 920 with prime 95 running for about 20 mins and temps are at 70c to 80c

I was looking at EVGA 04G-P4-3975-KR GeForce GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0+ 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Graphics Card
on new egg and its missing cuda core does that mean this card does not support this?
