So I've been debating for awhile I have a GTX 660 video card. I've been wating more due to better games coming out. So I'm been trying to choose. Upgrade to a 700 or 800 series or just SLI my current 660?

I've heard arguments on both sides from a few people but nothing definitive. I know 2 660s will over all be faster but upgrading to a 700 or 800 series is new tech. Plus not all games will allow SLI, so I dunno. Help?

Then forget it. It is not worth going with another 660. You are better off getting a GTX 970. Don't go with a GTX 980. It is not worth the price/performance ratio. You are going to pay more for little and the GTX 970 and 1080p gaming with hold you for a couple of years more than likely. Also when it comes down in price you can buy another and SLI it.
Hope I was able to help.

Splendid
If you are at 1080p and not wanting to go up to 3-4GDDR then I would SLI. typically games that need allot of GPU power will support SLI and ones that do not support SLI tend to not need the GPU power.

so make sure you have a good enough power supply with enough amps on the 12v rail

and get another 660

as a general rule you should never upgrade from one series to the next so going from 6xx to 7xx is a waste as far as a performance increase goes.

your only options are a second 660 and hold out till next year when the next batch of cards come out or go for a gtx 970/980

the new AMD cards look impressive with their hbm memory from the leaks but who knows for sure.
