I just got bunch of stuff brand new for $100 from a friend
I want build my dad a gaming pc for father's day

Right now he's running a dell xps 420
Intel core 2 quad with a gt640 with 6gb ram
On a 32 inch hd vizio tv

So what I have so far is

MSI A78M-E35 FM2+ / FM2 AMD A78 (Bolton D3) 6 x SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

WD Caviar Blue WD10EZEX 1 TB 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
$61.47

COUGAR Solution Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with 12cm COUGAR TURBINE HYPER-SPIN Bearing Silent Fan and USB 3.0

So basicly I want him to be able to play modern games at least high settings def gta 5 and up and I want it to last long not go outdated to fast 2-4 years!! and I want him to see a massive difference compared to his really old pc I'm willing to change mobo if needed to

budget $400

A kaveri CPU would be what to go with for your motherboard. I wouldn't swap out your board with your budget. Given you have Ram and Hdd so far, I'd budget the rest for GPU and CPU. Do you have OS and PSU? If not, we'll have to factor that in as well.
