Hello everyone,
I'm trying to buy a CPU for Photoshop,After Effect,3DS MAX,MAYA,Zbrush,Unity{V-ray,i-ray,mental ray,Arnold(Didn't use Arnold yet)}.
Actually I'm new to Maya, unity and Zbrush.
My budget is $1,928.(Currency converted into USD)

So,I researched online and went to market today to know about the products prices.
Here is the list of what I'm thinking to buy:
Motherboard: X99S M.Power (MSI)
Processor: Intel core i7 5820K
RAM: 8x4 = 32 GB 2800 Mhz Bus (ddr4)
Graphics card: GTX 960 (Nvidia)
Hard disk: Seagate 2 TB SSHD.And already have 1TB HDD bottlenecked (Western
digital).
Power Supply: Corsair 750 Gold edition
Heatsink: Already installed on my current cpu Thermaltake Frio ock Supports LGA 2011

(I don't need help on Casing and UPS)

I'm not that good on pc things. What do you pro's think? Are those configurations okay for those softwares? Is there any alternative, which is better for me ? I'm still a student and trying make as much portfolios as I can. So, I needed a good cpu.
Thank you.

True, but that doesn't change the fact that with all 6 cores the I7 outperforms the Xeon in...

I'm not an expert on programs like that, but the processor is pretty beast and I should think it can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. With all program data on SSD I suppose it can probably render pretty quick. As I said, not an expert on those programs specifically, but for most content creation that should be fine.

You have a point, but from my experience xeons only become practically better at higher prices. There may be a better xeon for this price (around £300) but after a quick scout I didn't see any.

But,bro. In my area I don't think they imports Xeon's usually. I was thinking about the xeons too. But, the availability is a big issue in right time. I was also thinking about a quadro vs GTX(graphics cards). But,quadro's are expensive and they cannot give the performance like GTX. Compared to prices.

But,can you refer any xeon which is comparatively better from this i7? I would really appreciate it. That i7 5820k costs $418 here. And there is another thing. Is GTX 960 more than enough for my viewport for highly detailed scenes in both 3D softwares and unity?
Thank you all for the reply.

It is cheaper and has slightly better single core performance, but I would say the full 6 cores of the I7 beats it

Yh i'm not a fan of cpuboss, they are not that good. Youtbe videos are better and anandtech.com is much better than gpu/cpuboss.

I forgot to say one more thing. I will overclock my i7-5820K @ 4.6GHz/2666MHz as they said it was fully stable, if my Frio ock helps to keep the i7 at a good temperature. But, is overclocking possible on xeons? If yes, then will it be better on xeons? Like i7 5820K oced vs xeon E3-1270 v3 oced?
Thanks.

Not sure but I reckon OC I7 will win over OC Xeon, you'd have to find some real data to be sure.

Oh, the xeon is see that should be good is E5-2620V3 and the previous one i sent mate. As for GPU maybe a radeon will do good, like the 7970.

The thing is those two processors are powerful, the margin between them is small, ocing both them the same results will occur. Just a minor improvement from OCing resulting in a minor gap between the i7 OC'd and xeon OC'd

Bro,I can understand your thoughts on processors. Now, that you suggested the ATI HD 7970, I would like to say ATI doesn't support CUDA cores and CUDA cores are only for NVIDIA.And CUDA is the thing which I need too. Except the CUDE cores,NVIDIA sucks comparing to the ATI cards on price and performance. I'm also using an ATI card. Only for those NVIDIA's programs, now I have to use NVIDIA. Otherwise, I wouldnt go for NVIDIA. Take a look at this: http://forums.cgsociety.org/archive/index.php/t-1088540.html. Thank you all to make me realize what to buy.
