Hello,

I have a pc built in 2011, im currently looking to upgrade in order to be able to experience games in max settings once again.
my questions are:
a. can i achieve that goal by only upgrading my GPU?
b. if yes, whats the best option for me in range of 200-400$?
c. if no, what else should i change?

specs:
mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4
cpu: Intel Core i7-2600K: 3.4 GHz-3.8 GHz LGA1155
Ram: 16GB = x4 gSKILL 12800 DDR3-1600
Psu: Seasonic X750 750W Gold
case: antec DF 85
*current gpu: Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 - 2GB, DDR5, PCIe 2.1 (x16)

Thank you for your advice :)

In that price range the R9 290/X and the GTX 970 come to mind, those will help you max games out.

Your other components are still fine, the GPU upgrade will make the biggest difference. Any other upgrade wouldn't be worth it, for example if you upgraded your CPU to the 4790k you would be paying ~$450 for a ~10% increase in performance, no where near worth it.

Hope I helped, Good Luck.

+1 Drop in a 970 or 290x.

Very capable system still.

You might need to overclock the cpu a bit though depending on game. So if you dont have one also nab up a good aftermarket cpu cooler.
