Im looking to build my first gaming pc for around 500 dollars. So far I have settled on this. Its a bit over budget and some general advice and help would be appreciated since I am just starting. I want to be able to play games like dying light and call of duty at good settings and 1080p max.

Solution
X4 860K with OC outperform both i5-2300 and FX-8320.
Up to 6 threads.
Dying light for minimum will use 4 threads.

I'd say a 280 in any $550 build is very impressive.

This is not the exact card, but here are some benchmarks: ( http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/sapphire-radeon-dual-x-r9-280,3914-3.html )

If I were you I'd go for it, although the processor is a only two cores so not great for content creation. Should be ok for gaming but if you want something with more cores, try an AMD, maybe this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113327 or this for a bit cheaper: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113326&cm_re=AMD_FX-4350-_-19-113-326-_-Product

If you do go for the AMD you would obviously have to change Motherboard, and you may not personally want to go team red.

I dont really have a problem with amd just the upgradability with intel is catching me. Apart from that I want to play dying light and similiar recent games so I wanted to confirm if 2 cores with be a problem.

Dying light specs are here: ( http://www.pcgamer.com/dying-light-system-requirements-are-killer/ )
Unfortunately that list wants a 4 cor minimum Intel or an 8-core AMD. As far as I know, there is no 4 core intel CPU for near $100, the AMD processor for this specification list (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285) costs $140 so if you are looking at this game specifically then you may need to stetch this far. The Graphics card is also not great for such an intense game, it will probably be alright, just don't expect high specs 60 fps or anything.

Fair enough, I suppose that would be better, so go for it.
