hi all
i recently built a gaming pc (3 days back) for myself after consulting you guys :)

i bought this RAM after your recommendations: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-240-Pin-Channel-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9/dp/B004CRSM4I/ref=sr_1_13?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1430597899&sr=1-13

However i thought thaat these sticks would run at 1600mhz by default but thats not the case
My question now: 1. How to run them at 1600mhz
2. how much of a difference will they make at 1600mhz from 1333mhz??
3. Should i get 8 more GB of ram to maake my pc faster? coz i think it is not THAT FAST as i expected it to be.. Windows booting up and apps installation is very fast i must say, thanks to the dual SSDs but When coming to desktop from a game using ALT + TAB it isn't all that fast and my 4yrs old 1st gen i3 with 4 gigs of ram takes about same time as this new pc of mine which has 8GB ram :(

Set BIOS to XMP. Manufacturers advertise the XMP or overclocking profile speed..... MoBos default to the highest JEDEC profile as XMP = RAM overclocking

Going from 1600 to 2400 can increase fps anywhere from a fraction of a percent to 11% %

You coulda has 2133 CAS 9 for less money and 2400 CAS 10 for $3 more

What you should work OK, try enabling XMP and see how it is at 1600. 1600 is basically entry level, the sweet spot price/performance wise for Haswell seems to be in the 2133 area (+/-) can often find excellent deals on 2400, with new rigs I recommend 16GB (2x8) if you can fit it in the budget
