how do i use a portable dvd player with my chromebook?

I just bought a LG SP60 portable dvd writer to watch dvd's on my chromebook and can't seem to get it to work. The device shows up with the files, but chromebool doesn't seem to have the "app" to actually play the movie. Help.

I do not personally have a portable DVD writer/reader but I'd assume it would be as easy as plugging it in and watching?

I checked around and someone wrote this:

- You can connect a CD or DVD player and use it read read data files if you have a disk written in data format.

- You cannot play an audio CD or a movie on a DVD or Blu-ray.

- You cannot write anything to a CD, DVD or Blu-ray disk.

ChromeOS does not have an app for CD/DVD mastering. You might want to dualboot Linux on your Chromebook (here is one of many guides), and you might have better chances of burning DVDs.
