Surround sound is not usually necessary. Stereo sound is normally best for headphones (after all, you have two ears) For PC I very highly recommend Kingston HyperX Cloud. I believe they are Xbox compatible.

If you think 7.1 surround sound is necessary, I believe HyperX cloud 2 supports that.

If you disagree about needing more than stereo, use any IEMs for phones or anything and listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUDTlvagjJA
