Toms community,

I know this might start a flame war but I'm looking at an upgrade. I'm currently running a GTX 760 but am looking to upgrade. Taking a strong look at AMD because it seems you can get more for your dollar... however I've heard that fewer games are coded for AMD cards causing them to not perform as well. Is this true? Is there industry bias towards NVIDIA hardware? Thanks.

Lately, both AMD and Nvidia have games that are best run on their cards. AMD has the Gaming Evolved titles, and Nvidia has their GameWorks titles (not sure on their newest name). If you have any particular titles you plan to play for a long time, that may be something to let influence your choice.
Well... AMD cards aren't exactly the best performance around. Some of those cards are sweet spots for budget and performance, but R9 290X isn't well in competition because of its TDW, TDP, and performance for that price.
However, I'll give you this: AMD FirePro GPUs are the best in the $3000 market right now.
