Is My Stick of RAM Dead?

My dad and I built me a new gaming pc back in July of 2014. I am now wishing to upgrade my RAM, but I am not the one who installed the stick of RAM into my computer's motherboard, that was my dad who handled that. I removed both sticks of RAM presuming that they were 2gb each because I have two sticks of RAM inside my computer and the computer properties say that I only have 4gb of RAM. Now here is my problem. I am searching online for the same sticks of RAM that I am currently using. I am using a G Skill trident sticks of RAM. You can find these on the G Skill website. So I was searching on the website and saw that the stick of RAM I am using is actually a 4gb stick and not a 2gb stick like I thought. My stick of RAM is the G Skill Trident DDR3 1600 PC3 12800 2gbx2. Now it was listed on the site as a 4gb stick. So does this mean that one of my two sticks of RAM is dead or am I just stupid and don't know anything. I would like to be able to upgrade soon so please if you can help respond. Is my stick of ram dead?

Part number F3-12800CL8D-4GBTD is listed at G.Skill website as "4GB (2GBx2)". This is a 2 x 2 GB dual channel kit. Each module is 2 GB.

If there are concerns about a possible dead or faulty module, try ONE module at a time, and in different slots as well, in case memory slots is/are faulty.
