Hey experts! I recently bought a Sapphire AMD Radeon R9 270X (DUAL-X) and noticed that the idle temperatures of the GPU in my case was 41-45'C when i started the computer and reached abt 45-52'C after browsing watching videos etc. for while any way while gaming(playing watchdog, blag flag etc.) My gpu temperature Maxed out at 70-72'C at most 74'C. and staying between 65-72'C. So I just did a Furmark Stress test for 60 seconds at 1280x720 and with burn in and dynamic background enabled and the absolute max temperature there was 78'C. Is this normal? Or is it dangerously high temperatures for my card can it damage the card or something? What are the safe temperatures of this card? and in anyway can temperatures like these damage the card and/or damage other components? How much lifetime can i expect from this card at these temperature?

Here is my FULL SPECS:

CPU: AMD FX-4100 Quad Core Zambezi @3.6GHZ (non-overclocked)
GPU: Sapphire Dual-X AMD Radeon R9 270X 2Gb GDDR5
RAM: Twinmos 8Gb 1600Mhz (1x8gb)
Mobo:Gigabyte Ultra Durable 4 GA 78LMT-USB3
Chassis: A very badly ventilated one with bad airflow.
PSU: Thermaltake Smart SE 530W (Moduler)
Ambient Room Temp: 28-35'C+
Note that all my components and hardware have stock coolers on them and i have not overclocked any of my hardware whatsoever.

So i just wanna know what the normal idle and load temperatures for this card is and also how does my temps compare to other people.(I live in a hot country and it it summer here)

My CPU temps max out at 42-45'C.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Well i own the same card as yours and my idle temps ranging from 32-35 and full load at 72-74. GPU's that under load that didnt reach 90 C are considered normal.
(I live in Malaysia and the ambient temps are 31-34)

Change the casing with decent airflow, that should decrease overall temps of the hardware components thus longing the life cycle of those components.

If you're using the stock cooler on the CPU,change it to aftermarket coolers like the Hyper 212X(since the airflow of the case you stated was very bad)

Thanks for answering well my real question is that will those load temps of 71-75'C damage my card or other components if i run them for 10-12 hrs straight everyday? are the temps below 77'C safe? thanks in advance.

Well chances are the lifespan of the GPU's chip will be slightly shortened,as steady heat for long periods of time will take a toll on the chip.

So you think it will damage my card if I run it at 72 to 74° for 10 to 12 hours straight? I have changed my casing with a decent airflow and still that temperatures do not drop much I read other reviews and threads of the Tom's hardware forums but all of them said that that their load temperatures stay between 70 to 75 to 80+ degrees so my temperatures stay between 70 to 75° I don't get how that could be a dangerous temperature for my components a I changed my casing and that didn't help it much my CPU another component temperatures decreased but the graphics card temperature decreased only by a few degrees and stays within the 70 to 75° threshold and I was suggested to set up a custom fan curve, do you think that would help? Anyway I'm happy with temperatures between 70 to 75°C for my graphics card you mentioned your low temperatures also between 72 to 74°C so how is that any different? Anyway thanks for answering and I would love to know that can I run this card at these temperatures without worrying too much. I've heard graphics card can handle temperatures around hundred degrees Celsius. And my local technician said that temperatures of my card is within the normal threshold. Is he wrong? Please answer thanks in advance.

Amd designed those to run at high temps as long as the card doesn't get above 90 degrees c your fine
