My motherboard occasionally stops recognizing that there is an Ethernet port plugged in. It might drop connection for 5 seconds, or up to a minute, and it can happen as frequently as every 5 minutes and has gone for up to a day without any issues. I've tried restarting my router, tried different Ethernet cables and tried re-installing the latest drivers, and the issue is still there. Its been working fine for the past few months. My phone and laptop are able to load websites/videos perfectly over WiFi without dropping connection, even when my PC is.

If I use Microsofts crappy diagnostics system when its dropping off, it tells me that there is no Ethernet cable plugged in, but after a few seconds, or a minute, it just goes back to normal.

My motherboard is an Asus Maximus VII Hero (revision 1.01).

I don't know if any of my other specs are relevant, but here they are anyway.

i5 4690k @ 4.6GHz
8GB 1600MHz Kingston RAM
GTX 780 GPU
SSD
Corsair AX860i PSU (Yes, overkill, I know)

I've definitely got a good solid click when plugging in both cables. Currently, with no disconnection, the LEDs are telling me the following.

Activity LED: Linked
Speed LED: 100 Mbps connection

I will reply again once I observe them during a disconnection and let you know what their states are.

It looks like both lights just go off when the disconnection happens. According to the manual, Off on the activity LED is No link, and off on the Speed LED means 10 Mbps connection (or probably just nothing since there is no link).
