So my power supply is dead and i need a new one and have seen 3 i liked just want to see what one would be best bang for the buck.

Specs :
Sabertooth Z87
i7-4770k
Radeon HD 7970 royalQueen 3GB
16gb corsair vengeance
Cooler Master 650w bronze ( thats the power supply im using )
128 samsung SSD
H100i

These are the 3 :

1.] XFX XTR Series (650W) Easy Rail Plus Power Supply Unit with Full Modular Cables (80 Plus Gold) - £73

2.] Corsair Builder Series CXM 750W Modular - £77

3.] EVGA SuperNOVA 750W - £65

if they are any better and you could help link me please, any help would be amazing :D

Stay away from the Corsair PSU you listed as it has been rittled with issues and low quality components.

The XFX is a good PSU and is made by Seasonic.

They make different Super Nova PSU's so if you could give the exact model number we can help further with that one.

Hey thanks for reply this , the XFX link is here : http://www.morecomputers.com/extra.aspx?pn=p1-650b-befx

and the Super Nova one is here : http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Bronze-Modular-Supply/dp/B00KM821KC/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1430674608&sr=1-3&keywords=750w+psu

OK that SuperNOVA stay away from. THe only reason for this is that particular one has a multi rail system in it and will not be good when a heavy draw is put on it. I actually put one in my sons computer and any time I OC the GPU the safety switch engages and shuts down the PSU.

Out of the ones you suggested get the XFX. It has the single rail and is made of quality parts.

If you're not comfortable with XFX, whose manufacturing partner is SeaSonic (one of the best in PSU manufacturing business). Then I'll suggest you a better one from SeaSonic itself.

Your entire system including the beefy 7970 3GB graphics card only require a quality 550W PSU with 31Amps on a single +12V rail. So I would suggest 550W PSU over a 650W one.

Keep in mind that one should not pick a PSU just based on higher wattage alone. Should pay attention to the amount of Amps a PSU can deliver the on a single/multiple +12V rails. That's why I've pointed out the Amps requirement along with wattage.

Also the manufacturer minimum recommended is 550W. Their usual recommendation itself is higher than what is actually needed because the consumer may either pick a good 550W PSU or a crappy 550W PSU. So 550W is more than enough to power this rig. Even you overclock your PSU and CPU it will hardly touch 490W max.

In this AnandTech Review, they use the 7970 Ghz Edition with a TDP of 250+ and a i7-3960X, a 6 core processor with a TDP of 130W. With both overclocked the entire test rig only consumes 485W. Your CPU only a four core processor has a TDP of 95W Even if you monster overclock both your CPU and GPU, it's going to be well under 485W, with a comfortable head room of unused 80-90 Wattage.

It's sad to see people go on fear mongering without any solid facts and blindly reject even what either the manufacturer or the professional real world testers recommend.

You can check the results here:

So What I recommend below is a quality 80+ Gold Certified PSUs, which you can use with great confidence backed by benchmarks from AnandTech.
So consider the following:

Get this one from SeaSonic, which is a 550W 80+ Gold Certified PSU with 45Amps on a single +12V rail, more than enough to power your rig.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Power Supply: SeaSonic G 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (£75.09 @ Ebuyer)
Total: £75.09
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

(OR)

You can pretty much settle for a XFX 550W 80+ Gold Certified PSU again with identical 45Amps on a single +12V rail like the Seasonic:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Power Supply: XFX TS 550W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply (£55.72 @ More Computers)
Total: £55.72
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Both PSU's are targeted at high-end PC builders and are backed by 5 year warranty.

Cheers!

I personally would not go with a 550W PSU with a 7970. Stick with the 650w or higher. Yes the Intel cpu is only 95W but that GPU will suck close to 270 watts at peak if you OC it. this would push the PSU to close to the limit of the PSU for comfort.

It is your decision the end but the Tahiti chips are major power hungry pieces. I know from experience, I have one and put a R9 280 which is a 7950 in my sons system.

Just an addition to this,

For crossfire do not go less than an 850W PSU. My gaming system pulls 800+ watts with my 7970 and the R9 280 crossfired. This reading was taken strait from my UPS's digital display so this is a real world reading. My Seasonic X-850 was able to handle both OCed but it was coming close it's peak output though.

Like I said just some added info so all facts are known for an informed decision.

I did notice you recommended an XFX 850 PSU. ;) I was not trying to demean or criticize your post in anyway. Just wanted to add that when pushed they will draw over the 750W's that is recommended for crossfire with a OCed system.

My sons Asus R9 280 DirectCU II GPU (actually a HD 7950 boost edition) has a recommended PSU wattage of 850W for crossfire. I thought this was a bit high but it is printed right on the box and Like I mentioned my tower drew 800W, Yes heavily OCed, But I can see why it is was recommended now.

I also wanted to add info, power draw can be hugely overestimated and that's why i react that way,no offence to you.I know you mean the best,so do i. ;)

With gpu's like that in crossfire is there, imo,no need to overclock, this will keep power draw as low as possible.
