I recently moved house, before i had a wired connection to the internet, it was great! no drops and a steady ping of 40 when playing BF3. Now i have moved house and its no longer possible for me to get a wired connection, i have instead a cheap TP link PCI-E network card, this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006BSPTAQ?psc=1&red...

Now i almost always get drops in connection, my ping is good, it will be around 40, but it jumps into 400-999 and will stay there for a while! im just wondering if this is because of my new house or the network card, i am about 17-20 feet from my router, i should also mention that its the router that sky provides to you. Here is my download and upload speed: http://www.speedtest.net/result/4334530981.png

As you can see the ping has jumped again, its usually 40 and now its 56. I am looking at this PCI-E card: http://www.amazon.co.uk/PCE-AC68-Wireless-Express-Netwo...

Will this stop my ping from spiking and my connection from dropping? total noob at networking so any and all advice is welcome!. Thanks.

Why can't you just run a cable those 20 feet? That is pretty short and you can easily route it on the side of a wall without having to cut anything.
Even if you can't leave the cable there the whole time, hook up the computer with a cable and run some tests over a few days like that to make sure it's the connection that is the issue. If it works fine on a cable, then look into a better wireless card, and also run a scanner like inssider to check for wireless interference.
