I have a dell xps m1330 with a gm848 motherboard. My problem is that the dvd will not function correctly. It spins, I can hear it working but nothing. I replaced the dvd with the same results. I was hoping for some other options, or advice before purchasing a replacement motherboard. Thanks for any replies.

I don't think that the motherboard has anything to do witth it.

You don't fully explain the problem. You are trying to run one DVD disk in your DVD drive and it doesn't work?? Have you tried other DVDs or CDs in the same drive ? If they don't work then it sounds like a DVD drive driver problem. Delete the driver from device manager then reinstall it - preferably using the original driver that came with the dick drive.

New computers don't come with disk drives very often now. Disks are obsolete. You can download or redownload all the software or games that you need.
