Hi all!

I'm in the process of overclocking my AMD FX 6300 Black Edition 6 Core from its stock 3.5GHz. I am currently at 4.7GHz stable and climbing, but suddenly when I was waiting for Prime95, I just thought..... apart from my own satisfaction, am I actually gaining anything by doing this?

(I am a gamer, but also use this computer for Chrome (Youtube, web browsing) and also Office 2013 and well its my all around PC)

Thanks :)

For a CPU there is minimal advantages to overclocking. However, as technology advances and games are becoming more demanding, thats when overclocking will come in and it will help boost your performance if you need it. As of currently, I suppose now that your CPU is becoming a bit outdated, it is giving you a performance boost since it has begun bottlenecking next gen GPUs such as the GTX 970 in some occasions.
