Hey guys, I have a dilemma... I recently "upgraded" from a GTX 750 ti 2GB with ACX cooling (1189 Mhz base clock speed) to a Sapphire Radeon R9 280 3GB with Dual-X cooling (940 Mhz factory OC speed). My main concern with this card is that it gets super hot. My 750 never broke 50 degrees celsius even under heavy load because my case is well ventilated and I have several 120 mm fans sucking all the hot air out. However, this new card reached 74 degrees celsius then proceeded to shut my system down. I decided to turn my fans around to blow the air directly onto the card itself. This helped somewhat, reducing the temp to around 50 degrees celsius, but when I run Valley benchmark it rises to 65 celsius then shuts off. I then noticed once the Bios booted that I was getting an error message which says "Power supply surges detected during the previous power on. Asus anti surge was triggered to protect the system from unstable power supply unit"... I don't see how the power supply could be the problem. The R9 card recommends a 500 W PSU, whereas the one I am using is a 610 W unit (which I had no problem using the Nvidia card with). That's pretty much everything I know so far. Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time

Fisr thing you need to know is that it is impossible to compare the 750 ti TDP to the 280 which draws far more power. the R9 2xx series are very high power sonsuming cards. Your PC isn't getting enough power so it is turning off your PC to save yourr parts, mainly your graphics card.

Post your full build, you will need to underclock your R9 280 so it will use less power and until you can get a bigger PSu you'll have to do that
