I have a Sabertooth x79 and I wanted to update my bio through flashback. The problem is that the light on the led bio flash once or twice then it became steady, meaning the update failed. my file system is FAT32, and i renamed my file to SABERX79.CAP. I tried downloading, extracting and copying the file again to my flash drive, but it didn't work also. I used a different USB and nothing changed. Moved my mobo outside the case but that didn't work either. Not sure what to do, if anybody here got some advice it'll be great

EDIT: The file didn't need to be converted, it was alrdy .CAP when i extracted.

Solution
I just figured it out! The bio chip came in today, and i manage to upgrade my bios! I also had to push the Ram sticks in hard on until both sides top and bottom clicks. The other problem i have now is that my bios can't detect my drive, but i think i can figure this out. Thanks for trying help waltz

Okay... Lets see... Well - lets start with the current issue. Steady BIOS LED... According to the manual "2.3.13" part 5: "The flashing rate of the light signal accelerates along with the updating speed." Problem here is that there's nothing noting on how to tell if it's completed or not. Are you sure it didn't update? IE: Did you try to boot? Another thing related to your first problem was that I was thinking... Did you push the "MEMOK!" button? Lets save that for later. No where does it say to power down and remove the USB and then reboot the system after the update. Did you try that?

It was on a instruction about flashback in one of asus's site. Noting that the light will stop when the update is complete, and that a steady light indicates a problem with the file or the flash drive. I haven't tried memok since i had everything disconnected from the mobo. Left with just the mobo, flashdrive and psu.
I'd been thinking of replacing my bio chip if the usb flashback doesn't work out.

Well - that's where I'm confused. I don't see anywhere where it says that a Steady light means that there is a problem. I don't see much besides what I quoted about that light; except that it should start flashing on the 3rd second of holing down the button! :)
Can't hurt much if you power down, pull the USB and try to boot! :) Never know she may just wake up! We hope!

my mobo still wasn't able to get into bio on my monitor. The dram led light is still on so i don't think bio was updated. Honestly I may i have to get a replacement for my bio chip if i can't update my bio through conventional means. I rma my mobo before, and the notes that came with it stated that everything was working fine.

That is a good thing! Okay - make sure the connections are good. I haven't seen anything that should affect your drive except - manual page 3-20 > SATA MODE [AHCI] - this is what it should be unless you're configuring a RAID drive array. Once you boot up again it should tell you if there is a drive (s) or not.
