I am new to building computers and I'm not too familiar with whats compatible and what's not. I was wondering if someone could tell me if these parts are compatible and if there are any better solutions to the listed components in the same price range.

I was also wondering if there are any tips when building the actual system since it would be my first time. Also would I need any extra fans other than the standard ones.

Also do I need a cd drive for OS or can it be done with a USB?

Thanks

Solution
A couple tips for your build. Either change the processor to a i5-4460 if you don't plan to overclock, or change the motherboard to a z97 motherboard if you do. Either way, you want a K Series processor and a Z97 chipset motherboard, or a non K series processor and a H97 motherboard.

Second, change the RAM to G.SKILL Ripjaws X. Same/better quality, $18 cheaper.

Third, switch the Seagate to a WD Caviar Blue, and the Sandisk to a Samsung 840/850 EVO. The WD is $4 more for better reliablity, the Samsung should be similar price.

Finally, change the Corsair PSU to a EVGA one. Should be similarly priced for better quality. A CD drive is only $12, so i'd just get one.
