Is an Apu ok to run with a Gpu

Before you tell me i'm stupid, yes i know, i made some bad choices...

I bought my first gaming pc and I now realize I could have made better choices.
What I want to know is should I get a a gpu with my apu?
Or should I save up for a whole other system?

Specs:

A10 6800k (4.1Ghz, 4 cores)
Asus A78M-A FM2+
G.SKILL Sniper 8GB(2x4) (DDR3 1866 9cas)
Cooler Master Silent pro M2 850w (i know, overkill)
1TB HDD
Windows 7 Home Prem.

If you just throw a gpu in, does it auto-disable the iGPU in the APU?
