Does anyone know what the r9 280x max safe temperature range is?

FYI: Reason I am asking is because I am trying to OC it a bit more now that I have been playing gta v. I am using MSI afterburner and have had it set at +10 to pwer limit %, core clock from 1120 to 1170, and the mem clock from 1650 to 1700. When I set it before I did not try to get as high of an OC as possible because I had no need for it, but with the new game it seems it could use a bit more.

Yes it would, if it gets too hot, the GPU will throttle down by itself to ensure that it will not overheat
Most of us try to stay below 85C but the card itself won't throttle until about 95C.

Higher temperatures will shorten the lifespan but in most cases that is not important, the card will be obsolete before it fails, just keep an eye on the fans, they're more likely to cause problems in the long term if they're running faster for longer.

And try not to up the voltage (assuming you card isn't voltage locked) it produces a large increase in heat output/temperature/fan wear and done incautiously it's the fastest way to toast the part; CPU or GPU.

so if it is running at 70-75 for a couple hours during gaming that would be ok? I have always been keeping it below 70..it would make sense why only 60-70% of the gpu is being used most the time because I have worried about the temp
