Hi , I am asking this question just to make sure my friend said your Windows is not genuine I asked him how it isn't he said because genuine Windows show the brand logo , I told him it's not a Pre built / Branded pc it's a Custom pc so why would it? he said even Custom pcs show the mobo's logo in the my computer's properties , I told him it is genuine Windows because I am an engineering student & Universities provide engineering students with free genuine software then he started being sarcastic ''Okay you're right & I am wrong , happy now?''

Solution
with custom built parts it comes down to cost vs time like any other biz. a lot of time it easier to make a custom bios boot screen then it is to redo windows with the free windows tools to make a custom iso disk image and then have someone make a lot of new disk on a copy machine. ask your friend if building a pc for people and each pc has 50-100 in profit would you eat into that by making a 10.00 custom windows disk thta all it does for 30 sec is flash the company logo. or would you spend 2.00 and place logo on the case where it shown 24/7?? also useing standard windows iso lets them tell you you can download the iso from microsoft. and use there free tools to make a new boot cd or usb stick if you lose there disk.

another point to bring up to your friend have him read windows license agreement. vendor may have to pay extra fee for custom windows per pc over a standard cd disk. dell and hp by bulk site license for all of there pc. they flash that info into there bios and there restore cd look for that number. that how they can get a block of oem cheaply from ms.

Branded come with OEM version of Windows except for the N series & they also come with alot of useless blotware software pre-installed which you don't need really like Mcafee which isn't a good anti virus or Norton both of them are old & aren't good When it comes to Custom vs Branded pc I prefer Custom pcs because branded pcs are not upgradeable much , their casing cannot be changed , cannot add a different brand's mobo to it , cannot add more than 550 watts psu to it , cannot add liquid cooler or big fans to them & cannot add high end gpus to them cause of lack of space the benefit of a Branded pc is that it got not faults , no comparability issues & it's a bit faster than Custom pc due to it uses the parts of the same brand, My last branded pc was a Pentium 4 & after that I got a Core2Duo custom pc & never looked back then upgraded it to a Core2Quad & then to a 4th gen i5 only a noob would call a Custom pc as Non branded & people say Custom pcs have faults the only fault I had encounter was psu's fan making noise which was easily fixed by adding one or two drops of lubricant / machine oil
