What would be better for top intake fan, 2x 140mm or 3x 120mm?

You should have 1 or 2 fans on the front of your case pulling cool outside air into your case. On the rear of your case, you should have 1 fan pulling the warm air out.

Inside of your case, air flows much like a river. It is expected to come in from the front near the bottom of your case. As it flows through your case, it is pushing warmer air ahead of it, and as it moves across the warm devices in your computer, it rises, and eventually is pulled out the back by the rear fan.

If you start adding fans at the top and/or on the sides, you are likely to disrupt the airflow that your case was designed to use, and leave some hot spots inside your case, and that is not something you want to do.

If you feel you need more airflow inside your case, buy fans for your case that pulls more airflow into or out of your case. Cheap fans generally are fairly poor at moving air, and noisy in the process. High quality fans tend to do a much better job at moving air, and at the same time, can be much quieter. One brand that fits this bill that comes to mind is Noctua. And there are others. I just cant think of the brand names right now.
