I work with shaders and heavy cinematic artwork now days and I am deciding to upgrade from 16 to 32gb of ram. I'm buying an all new set in order to increase speed as well.
I have been advised that it may be better to buy a 32 gb set of 8x4 all as one rather than two sets of 8x2, but I wanted to double check before cashing in.
I am curious because I only see 8x4 sets being labeled as quad channel and I know the z97 is not compatible with quad channel. However I could have sworn I read somewhere that quad channel will work as dual channel just the same.
I'd love it if I could get some confirmation on this compatibility or some friendly direction toward a good alternative. I know my way around most other parts but It's my first time buying my own RAM since DDR2.
Much thanks,
Josh
