I would really like to upgrade to a nvdia video card. I use adobe video editing on my desktop. I want a good compatible nvdia graphics card.

Hear are the specs:
HP Pavilion p6754y
OS:Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
AMD Athlon II logo Operating speed: Up to 3.0 GHz
Number of cores: 4
Socket: AM3
Bus speed: 4000 MHz HT3
Integrated graphics using ATI Radeon 4200
my power supply is 250w. I have no problem upgrading my power supply.

I need to know what is a good nvidia card that i can upgrade to. Here is a link to the specs to my desktop. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02628380

Don't look for super duper card... The power supply in your desktop is 250W only
I don't think a video card upgrade will be of importance for video editing. Stick with your plan for memory upgrade. I would also consider the largest SSD your budget allows for.

Thanks for the fast response. Ok cool i understand but i had no problem with up grading my power supply. I will stick to the memory what do you suggest with why memory i should go with. i want to max it out is 4x4 gb good to fill in my slots or 4x8 gb? I'm new to upgrading my computer. It's still stock and after years of having it i want to upgrade it. What exactly is a SSD and how would that benefit my computer? What ssd do you suggest?

As Alabalcho said, your main upgrades right now should be memory and SSD. GPUs, in editting, are only really useful for 3D. If that's something you may need, then any GPU in the last 2 (maybe 3) generations (GTX 500/600/700, AMD HD6000/7000/R200) should perform better than the onboard HD4200.

As for PSU upgrade, this PSU is on Toms best PSU for the money 2015 list for 400-500W PSUs and only $35 bucks which would power which ever GPU you pick (pending its not a high power gaming card from said tier):

Sounds great now when i install one of these SSD drives would it be a problem if i keep my stock drive in as well? If so how will the program know to use this new SSD drive? I'm definitely going to invest in a SSD drive.

Thanks a lot for the knowledgeable and useful information. I will look for a SSD. Do you recommend any kind? Also how much memory would you install? Should i max my computer out or is that bad to do? I read some where if you max your slots out with 4x4GB can hurt your computer. I'm not sure if that's true or not. Or is 2x8GB good i'm not sure.

From what I can see, adobe products utilize memory and cpu cores as you see fit. So I would assume, the more memory the better. Some of their products can support up to 16 cpu cores. I don't see a limit on memory, but in this screen shot, it appears that you can allocate the amount of memory that the software can utilize. This is of course assuming you use Adobe Premiere, as you only said "Adobe video editing."

Yes correct i use Adobe Premiere and After effects. My computer is great i'm just not happy with how slow it is when it comes to rendering and scrolling threw the video while in the program. I'm tired of the slowness now. Again what GPU go you suggest that will will work great with my computer i know i have to buy a new PSU as well. I thank you and appreciate your help. I will also get more memory.

Here are the specs for the computer that you provided in your original post. In the 'Memory' section, it states that 16GB is the max memory memory for this PC. In the expansion section, further down, it states says "4 DIMM 240-pin" This is how many ram slots you have. What all that means is, your computer is rated for 4x4GB.

Building a pc is not as daunting as it seems. The most important part (and easiest part to damage) is inserting the cpu in to the mother board. Everything else is pretty much self explanatory. Request a build with a certain budget in the systems forum, that way you can get some experienced people to get you a build where everything is compatible. Watch some youtube how to videos so you know what to expect.

I really appreciate everything i think that is what i will do build a PC instead of trying to just get a video card for my current computer i will ask on the forum and check out some YouTube. i seen a motherboard that seems to work perfect for what i would want to use it for it's the ASUS Sabertooth Mark1 Z97. Do you know anything about this motherboard?
