Hallo everyone,

I am currently building my first own computer, but I have a small problem, I would like to transfer my operating system (with all my files and programs) from my old desktop computer to a new HDD in my new PC build, which means:

1) Transfer my old WD HDD (with the operating system and all files) from my old PC to the new one I build; then
2) Transfer all the content of the WD HDD to my new Seagate Hybrid HDD.

Is this possible? If yes, could anyone guide me how to achieve that?

Thanks a lot.

Hey there, moh19814!

@Nuwan Fernando is right. The operating system from your old desktop won't work on your new rig, because of the different motherboard. A fresh install from a genuine new OS is your only option. However, you can still backup all your files and data and transfer them once you install the OS. Beware that all your programs would have to be re-installed as well due to the different drivers and settings on the PC build.

Good luck! Hope we were helpful! :)
