I originally made a thread here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2629540/ping-spikes-internet-slowing-gaming.html#15804475 - but decided to make a new one because I have tried some new things and need urgent help.

So basically, when I turn my computer on in the morning, my download speed on speedtest is 96mbps, which is really good. But then I go to play Counter-Strike, I play for 30mins-1hour and I start to lag and my ping rises from around 10-20 to 100-200. I close the game and go on speedtest, and I nowget 100 ping and a download speed of 7mbps. My internet doesn't return to normal for numerous hours, and it affects all the devices in my household (both wired and those on wi-fi).

So I then rang up Optus, who ran tests and decided to come and replace the modem, router and the switch . But the problem still persists, and it is getting really annoying. If anyone has a solution or any ideas, please let me know, as Optus said if replacing those didn't fix it, then there's nothing else they can do.

(The new router is a Netgear CG3000v2)

I have been playing CS for over 7 years, and i really doubt a bug that big would exist in a game as popular as CS. This has only been happening to me for a month. Im not sure if im bad at wording it or whatever but im not sure you comprehend the issue im encountering.

Based on Google and previous requests for help here on Toms, YouTube videos on how to resolve this problem, and hundreds of other sites that have attempted to help, this problem started in 2005, and as you are proving, it is ongoing.

I comprehend exactly what you are saying. You just seem to not want to look at the evidence that I posted on the other thread that this problem has been occurring for 10 years now. You say you've been playing for 7 years. And you had never heard about this problem despite the thousands of players that have clearly been affected by it? Was there a patch to the game about the time this started happening?

I have been searching for evidence to find that this is a Counter-strike related issue, but I really don't think it is. A bug that causes the internet to slow down for my entire household doesn't seem feasible, and those who do have this issue usually have a reason for it (whether it be inadequate internet, or not using wired connection etc). Mine has been working for years, but something has happened, and Counter-Strike source hasn't been updated for years now, so for that to start causing it NOW, out of the blue, wouldn't make any sense. My router, or my ISP, or something is having troubles with something, but I doubt it's Counter-Strike specifically.
