Hello, I am soon going to be building a new PC. I have a tight budget of around 800~
I was wondering if I am able to use two patriot 2gb ram sticks, and two 2gb from another company, that is in an old desktop computer, my mother used to use. Will this work? The motherboard support dual channel as well.

Well, first off there's motherboards with only 2 ram slots. 4 is more common, but you can't ignore this possibility.

You can use different brands, that's not a problem. What you want to look at though is the speed of both since they will both be run according to the lowest specs.
So if your new ram is 1600 Mhz and your mom's is 800 both will run at 800

As long as both are DDR3, DDR2, or DDR you can theoretically use different brands. However, it isn't guaranteed to work. It's more or less a coin flip. Do note that they will run at whichever RAM has the lowest speed.
