i currently have a GTX 960 but with the board i ordered i might try to use 2-way Sli in the future. would that mean i can still utilize both GPUs but jsut in Gen 2 mode?

Solution

I'm sorry to say that ASRock Z97 Pro4 only supports Crossfire not SLI.

Yes, I think when you SLI, it'll run on dual x8 gen 2.0 mode. Can you please tell the motherboard model?

With Single Graphics Cards:
The performance difference of using your card on PCI Express 3.0 or 2.0 will close to zero or absolutely negligible. Also the Gen 3.0 cards are backward compatible and will work fine on Gen 2.0 PCI-Express slots.

With Multiple Graphics Cards:
The performance will differ from one game to other. Check this - PCI Express 2.0 vs 3.0 GPU Gaming Performance Review

Cheers!
