Best fan replacement for a asus direct cu 2 280x

Solution
They sell a cooler that if your case is big enough that will replace that cooler and work better. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186098&cm_re=280x_cooler-_-35-186-098-_-Product

But with the cost of the part and tho cooler it is not worth the time. You can not just buy fans unless you go through the company, ASUS, to get the proper fans. In my Opinion, don't get that card. Who know what temp it reached with the fans not working proper.

EDIT: If you have a friend with either that card or the Asus R9 280 variant you could have them warranty there fans and get a new set that way. In my case My son has one and I would go that route. IF not then the added cost would not make this card worth it IMO.
This issue usually falls under defective equipment and is replaceable through the company, in your case ASUS. I'm not sure of how long the warranty lasts on that particular card or when you bought it but I would try to get the company to replace them first before looking into aftermarket fans or coolers.

^+1.
It's unusual for two fans to fail at once, pop the card out and check the little 4 pin fan connector is fully attached to the main circuit board. If, like me, your fingers are a little chunky, you'll need a pair of strong tweezers to do this, the connector is small and usually hard to reach.

I have had 1 fan die and I have had both fans refuse to spin until the voltage neared 100% duty cycle. For these types of issues it is the fan bearings that got worn and makes it hard for the fan blades and armature to spin. Many GPU fans are not serviceable sadly so replacement is necessary.

After reading coozie7's post it made me think of my issues in the past. What happens when you set your fans to 100% ? Do they start to spin? Either way they would need to be replaced but this would allow you to use the GPU in the mean time.
