I have been contemplating switching to water cooling for my CPU only. I really don't want to set up a custom loop which would require fair amount of maintenance. My budget is under 200 USD. I have my i5-4690k (Not overclocked) idling at 45-50C according to CAM. I hear all in one sets like the popular H100i was a joke and that they explode and leak a fair amount. I also heard that huge aircoolers like the NH-D14 by Noctua was just as good as something like the H100i and had no maintenance. What easily maintainable solution would prepare me to overclock or upgrade one day while keeping very low temps?

If he is not overclocking, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo will drop his temps and be quiet. Haven't really seen any All in One coolers blow out or leak, but I have seen the pumps fail (just stop cooling in general, and the H100's do get fairly loud. I can't justify recommending them as they produce more noise for the same level of cooling at their price range with air coolers, and have higher failure rates and add unnecessary complications.
For an i5 4690k all you need is a Coolemaster Hyper 212 evo ($30 at Newegg). But you have to look after it - the same as the stock cooler. If its getting hot, blow the dust out of it with compressed air and make sure the fan speeds are over 1000rpm. And if need be, replace the thermal paste.

for air i like the cryorig r1 ultimate, but most ram cant fit under it. noctua nh d14 or 15 is good. phanteks makes some good air coolers too. finally the CM V8 GTS is also a cool cooler.

edit: there is also cryorig r1 universal and it doesnt give r1 ultimate performance, but its compatible with virtually all RAM.
