Upgrading mobo, cpu and move to SSD. Question regarding windows 8.1 transfer.

I have questions regarding windows 8.1. I currently running windows 8.1 and it was a transfer license that I got through my school (I have windows 7 license previously). So, in a week or so I want to upgrade my PC and gonna buy new motherboard, CPU and SSD.

From what I heard, when using new motherboard, I need to contact microsoft regarding moving the license. The real question is that, can I reinstall and MOVE my license to the new SSD? OR do I have to get a new windows license?

Short answer is: M$ will not allow you to transfer an OEM license. OEM means the license that was sold with the PC. Retail versions are the only transferable consumer license.

To get around this you can:
clone the old HDD to the SSD
or
Attempt a re-install using an OEM disc which will usually work

This 'Transfer License' you got is probably a dodgily dealt version of your Schools enterprise license

well, I used that software you recommended and it listed my windows as follows:

Product Part No.:
[Blue]X18
Installed from 'Full Packaged Product' media.
along with my product ID and CD key, computer name and register owner.

Full package product is a retail key so you can install Windows on your new setup without any trouble. You jut need to get the media disc.

When you install the SSD change the boot order in BIOS so it boots to the SSD Windows not old HDD Windows.
