cant open icons on my desktop the properties page opens. I have vista on that computer. I won't open with open or double click. All the icons will not open, not even the options on the start menu. I am typing from my laptop.

I can help you decide on a linux operating system you can install on the desktop that will work well. You can still keep vista installed on the desktop at the same time. Also, It is only $30 for a windows 7 key.
