600w PSU with r9 290x

Solution
A good 600w PSU will power a 290x & any CPU fairly easily.

Your system above may just touch 500w at full load on everything.
What is a concern is that the ocz only has a 6 pin & 8 pin ,the 290x requires 2x 8 pin so you would be using an adapter - I would not recommend this with a potentially close to 300w card like the 290x.

Consider a gtx 970 is my advice - you will have no concerns regarding your current PSU
It runs cooler & quieter.
It will negate any driver related problems going from nvidia to amd.
Paired with a 6350 performance difference will be negligible - the CPU will become the weaker component.
Its a HUGE upgrade over your current card.
There are models available from $305 upwards.

The power supply you linked is out of stock and may not be restocked according to NewEgg.

600w should work fine for you, but read some power supply reviews, and get yourself a good one. There are a ton of absolute junk power supplies out there. Some even have Brand names on them that would surprise you.

Then how i can run it with a 500W psu? Wattage is not everything. Now to OP, i saw your psu has 2x12v line with 25 amps each, what is the maximum load on the both lines, i couldnt find it on internet, if the maximum load is around 45 amps (i took in consideration that u have a fx 6350) then it can handle if it is lower then 45 amps buy another psu.

Well about 6 and 8 pin and the r9 290x requiers 2x8 pins, not true, asus r9 290x OC requiers 1x6 and 1x8, how i know, i have this card and it doesnt need 2x8 pins.

EDIT: to OP, if u do sony vegas pro editing and other editing stuff go for the 290x if not do as was suggested, go for the gtx 970. I needed the gpu power from the r9 290x to do matlab programing, i use in hyperspectral imaging mapping and i need lots of power cpu and gpu.

TBH, yes that's what I'd run a 970. I was doing what the OP wanted. The idea you suggested is solid and I personally think it's better!

^ we're in total agreement ;)

I've got nothing against the 290x at all - its a good card at a good price point.
Just in some cases (like this one) the 970 is just more sensible - it'll actually work out cheaper in the end - current PSU is definitely enough easily with plenty of headroom clear.

Well me neither i got nothing against amd, i even have one but in this case i agree a gtx 970 would be the best if he deosnt do editing stuff.

MSi have picked their game up after being found out that they lowered the quality on some of their components. I had a problem with the GTX660ti that I had from them but it lasted 3 years before it got there.

EVGA are the snob card I like to say. They tend to be more expensive but are brilliant and their warranty allows you to watercool their cards.

ASUS are ASUS, you don't talk cr*p about ASUS. I personally have an ASUS Gpu set up and its amazing!

Gigabyte also hang in the balance and tend to be louder. They perform like champs but the fans tend to be more audible than others.

Then you have Galax KFA2... Whatever they're called today. These are monster cards with specialized PCB's but tend to be way more expensive and harder to find than others!

Thanks for all of the replies guys. The idea was to see if I could fit a 290x in because of the price vs the 970. In the end I'll probably just cough up the extra cash for the 970 as it is a superior card, I was just trying to see if money savings could come into play.
