Is now the time to upgrade from a 780 Classified to a 970???

Now that Witcher 3 and Batman Arkham Night come with a new 970 I am thinking thinking now is a good time to upgrade from my EVGA 780 Classified. It runs at 1254mhz boost with 1.20 volts and ram at 7000mhz. I can push it higher but 1254 boost is the sweet spot for overall speed and temps. I usually run it at 1202mhz with less voltage because I don't need to push it any higher since I am using a single 1920x1200 display.

I figure the Classy will sell for @325 on ebay. It will cost @325 for a 970 and then I can sell the two games for @$60. After ebay, paypal and shipping fees I figure it will be close to a wash.

Do you think it is worth the hassle upgrading to the 970?

Pointless really, since the architecture features are the same (same DirectX 12). Only the OpenGL is 0.1 higher in the 970, still not worth it.
Actually the 780 classified has 2304 CUDA cores, when the 970 only has 1664. I'd just say overclock your 780 classified just a notch and get even better performance.
But generally the 780 Classified is a much better GPU than the 970.
Wait for DirectX 13 to come out, then it is time for an upgrade.

Thanks for the replies!

I do have my 780 overclocked. It is stable at 1254mhz boost and 7000mhz memory. I can push it higher but I bounce off the 115% power limit sometimes. I usually run it at 1202 mhz boost because I don't need more power than that.

I figured as much. I guess I will just keep an eye out for a good deal on a 780 Classified for SLI. All of my past cards I always started with one then got a second for SLI before upgrading to the newest generation. First was GTX460s then GTX670s and now I have the single 780. I am rethinking that strategy this time because the 970 is such an incredible deal and extremely efficient.

If you still had the sli 670's, then yes, a 970 would be a worthwhile upgrade, but, you already did that moving from 670s to 780. For me, moving from a single 660ti to a 970 would be a very worthwhile upgrade, unfortunately my wife doesn't see it that way.

My wife made me get her an i7 for a gaming rig even though we both know it doesn't help with gaming over the i5. She claimed she didn't want to have to explain that to those who don't know when she lists her pc specs.
