Can I boot apps with an SSD installed on a HDD at the speed of an SSD?

I was thinking about buying a 64GB SSD. I have a 1TB HDD already in my computer. I want to install all of my applications on my HDD and boot them with symbolic links from my SSD at the same speed as an SSD. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Mason

If your applications are still on the (slow) HDD, they will not boot faster just because you put the shortcut on the SSD. The application still has to load all of its files from the HDD.
No.

Just because your OS is on the SSD and the shortcut is on the SSD does not magically make the hard disk drive have instant seek time on its platter and exponentially increase the read speed to access the file at an SSD drive speed.

Under that logic putting a ford fiesta in the garage with a Ferrari gives the fiesta the same speed as the Ferrari.
