I have recently bought a WD 1Tb Sata 3 Black hard drive just for storage, my system and windows files are all in my other drive (WD 1Tb Blue). When i turn on my pc, when it gets to the "starting windows" logo, it just turns off, i´ve disconnected the new drive and it turns on well.

I have Windows 8.1 64-bit, my GPU is a Radeon R9 270X, CPU AMD FX-8120 Black Edition, 8GB of RAM, and my power supply is a Corsair CX600M.

If its important i had connected the two drives on the same cable, i have another socket in my power supply since its modular, will it make a difference? Its the power not enough? Or its another problem?

Solution
If you got it to boot with al 3 drives connected, try right clicking on 'My computer' go to 'Manage' then on the left tab click 'disk management' if you can see all 3 drives there then it is working. You just need to find the greyed out drive labelled 'RAW' and right click on it then format as NTFS.

If it's not showing up then the cable could be the problem - check for bent pins or damaged shielding on the cable.

Have you checked your power data cables are seated properly, sometimes if they are a little loose it can cause this. (check mobo and drives)

You won't have an issue with the PSU or having both drives on one SATA cable chain.

I have checked the connectors and the pc turned on fine, but the drive doesn't appear on the file explorer, the old one does, and i swapped the connector just in case, so the connectors aren't the problem.
