I am currently using a ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 motherboard with a 8370 amd cpu, what I would like to know is, is it worth it to upgrade to the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX motherboard.

Also currently I am not OCing the processor, would it benefit me to do so or what I should say is it worth the risk to OC the processor.

Solution
Mixing DRAM is never a good idea, no guarantees they will play together. On the 8370, if planning to keep it for awhile a better mobo isn't a bad idea, the 8370 OC well and handles DRAM very well for an AMD FX CPU, mines in sig

It wont help anything if your not overclocking. And i have had my amd fx 6350 overcloked to 4.7ghz and overvolted to 1.45v, its been like that for two and a half years now and it still runs as good as the day i bought it so in my experience there is very little risk in overcloking if you do it properly especially on these amd fx chips they love it. So to answer your question no absolutely not if your not overcloking and maybe if you are i doubt there will be much of a difference between them even if you do overclock.

So even if I were to OC it wouldn't be much of an improvement?

Alright, well then should I just invest in an ssd??

Im not 100% but i doubt it would make much of a difference. And yes i would say your money is definitely better spent on an SSD than another motherboard.

Alright one last question.
Would the Kingston Technology HyperX Genesis 8 GB be compatible with Kingston HyperX Savage 8GB Kit. These would be filling in all slots on the MB.
