i do not know about speeds and the internet that I have now comes into the house on a radio via a thing on our antenna the speed with this is 1.5mbit download and 384k upload. Our electric company is installing a fiber-based connection with 25mbps down and 10mbps up for the same price that I am paying now--both have unlimited data.....Which is the better speed ?

1.5mbit = 1.5mbps
1.5MB/s would be a much faster service, basically you divide MBPS values by 8 to get Megabytes per second as opposed to Megabits per second. Just what marketeers use to show bigger numbers.
10mbps = roughly 1.25 MB/s
25mbps = roughly 3 MB/s (Average 720p 1 'hour' program in about 5 minutes)
(though after overhead it will be a little less then those values)

Even accounting for the slight mismatch in bits and typing...the fiber connection is certainly better.
And from the ISP viewpoint, they always report in megabits, no matter how it is actually written. "megabits", or "mbps"
