I am building a PC this summer and I was planning on getting 1x8 GB G.Skill RAM. The Intel website says 1600 MHz is acceptable, but a PC building website says the motherboard doesn't support 1600 MHz speed. Please Help! Thanks in advance

This page Intel Desktop Board DX58SO System Memory clearly states:

- 1600+/1333/1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM Memory Modules.
- Intel Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP) version 1.2 performance profile support is required for memory speeds above 1333 MHz or use of manual adjustments.
- DDR3 1600 or higher memory support on this motherboard requires compatible XMP enabled memory or advanced knowledge of BIOS and manual memory tuning. Individual results can vary.

Note that not just 1600 Mhz, it...

Note that not just 1600 Mhz, it suggests even "DDR3 1600 or higher memory support" for this board.

Also check this - CMTL tested memory list for this board that has 1600 Mhz RAMs from Corsair & OCZ listed there.
Computer Memory Test Labs* (CMTL) tests third-party memory for compatibility with Intel boards as requested by memory manufacturers.

But there is still one catch. All the tested 1600 Mhz memory modules in those list are only 2GB 1600 Mhz modules. I didn't even see a single 4GB 1600 Mhz model listed there.

But I think as far as it's "Unbuffered, Non-ECC, 1600MHz, DDR3 DIMM" with any capacity, will work on this board.

Also just found out that none of the 16 compatible processors with this motherboard has support for DDR3 1600 Mhz RAM.

Only one Xeon Processor has support for 1333 Mhz RAM, while others support only 800/1066 Mhz DDR3 RAMs.

See the Compatible Processors List here

Update:

This guy playing BF4 with the following config:

I7 960 @ 3.20ghz | INTEL DX58SO | 12GB RAM VENGEANCE 1600MHZ | CORSAIR TX850 | 2X CAVIAR BLUE 1 TB | GTX 580 EVGA 1.5GB 800/1600/2100 1050v

So if you're still skeptical as I'm, it's better to shoot a mail to Intel, to clarify whether an XMP memory module with 1x4GB or 2x4GB or 1x8GB capacity work on this board. Just to be on the safer side.

Cheers!
