So I am planning my budget AMD Apu build with a MSI A78M-E35, and this is a very popular fm2+ mobo. Most reviews say that it doesnt work or it needs a bios update out of box, and that to do that, you must install an old cpu in it first. Is this true, and if so is there a way around it? or will I have to choose another MOBO

Solution
That depends on what processor you're intending to install. Based on the CPU Support List, it appears the earliest BIOS version is 7721vU0. As long as the processor you're attempting to install is compatible with this BIOS version, it will work out of the box. Otherwise, a BIOS update will be required.
