Hello!

I bought my computer in 2011. My components:

Intel Core i5-2500K PC1155 6MB Cache 4x3,3GHz boxed
ATI Sapphire HD 6870 1024MB GDDR5 DL-DVI
be quiet! STRAIGHT POWER BQT E8-450W
ASUS P8P67-M (Rev.3.0)
8 GB Ram
Win7 64 bit
Western Digital WD10EZEX Blue 1TB SATA 6Gb/s

I wanted to upgrade my graphics card. Some gamers suggested a Sapphire R9 280. I bought it but it does not work. No bios sound. I flashed and updated my bios (2011 version -> 2013 version) but still the card does not work.

The cooling works, the light is on...but the computer does not boot. No bios sound.

What should I do?

Graphics card:

Please help!

Thanks for your reply.

I have a be quiet! with 450W. The graphics card needs 500W but a lot of people say that the manufacturers list better PSUs because of cheap ones from China that have x W but actually only output 60% of it.
My PSU is of good quality..and I was told 450 would be enough.

What is "25A"? Yes, both 6 pins are connected. The fans rotate..and the small Sapphire logo is lit...but shouldn't it be that way that the computer boots but shuts down if the PSU is not good enough? The fans work, the light works...but the computer does not boot and no Bios sound is played.

Good to hear. Yes, the Be Quiet! unit is very good. With its four +12V rails having a capacity of 18A each and rated for 420W, it should be... adequate for the 250W card and the rest of the system. But you are marginal. I wouldn't OC anything with it. The Straight Power (E8) has some issues: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=247
Just so you know.
