HI
I have a dell inspiron 660 that came with windows 8 pre-installed that was then upgraded to win 8.1.
it came with a 1tb internal HDD and i added a samsung EVO SSD and migrated os to SSD .

i am building a new pc and the dell will still be used but just for browsing and netflix so i would like to take out the ssd and add it to my new build.

can i migrate windows back to the original hdd ?

Solution
Oh for sure.

But if you are using a cloning program that came with the SSD sometimes they are locked to transfer only to the manufacturer drives. not sure about samsung.

But you can t have tow copies of windows with the same product key running (connected to the internet) one or both will get bumped. need to get another key

cool so i just need to get a different disc cloning software to do the transfer cause like you said i think the samsung is locked. as for the new build i'm buying a new windows 8.1 dvd so there wont be any key issue.

thanks for your help
