I'm assembling a new Mini-ITX gaming PC, and my motherboard is the Asus H81I-PLUS.

I want to know if GSkill RipJaws X 1600 12800CL10S (8GB) is compatible with that motherboard, and if I can add a similar stick (another 8GB) for a total of 16GB (my target) down the line - I've heard that one should always buy the total set (8GB x 2, or something), but unfortunately, no such set exists in my usual store, and, being in the Philippines, it's not always easy to find alternatives.

G.Skill memory part number F3-12800CL10S-8GBXL is compatible with the Asus H81I Plus motherboard.

It is recommended that that if wanting 2 x 8 GB modules, they should be bought as a dual channel kit. This way the modules are guaranteed to be compatible and will work together without issue. Buying separate modules is not recommended due to high possibility of module incompatibility due to variations in module characteristics (even modules with same part number will have characteristic variations).

Consideration to purchasing a dual channel kit from an online store, or asking your usual store to get the kit in, could be made.

Some suggested 2 x 8 GB kits -

F3-1600C9D-16GSR

F3-1600C9D-16GAR

F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL

Thanks for that info. What would happen if the modules are incompatible?

Unfortunately, I live in the Philippines, so what they have is what they got, and online is out of the question.

Unfortunately, I'm not in the U.S. I'm in the Philippines, my apologies for failing to mention that. I've included it in the question, and I'll have a look-see at the stores here, but I won't get my hopes up.

The store I'm referring to (and my usual go-to place) is one of the biggest - chances are, if they don't have it, nobody else does.

I did find this, though, in one of the other stores. I'm not sure if it's still available, and I'm not sure if it's compatible:

G.SKILL RipjawsX DDR3 1600MHz 16GB (2x8GB) CL9 1.5V DIMM
