Hey there, Atomise!

Yes, you'd need a new Windows OS installation as well after changing the motherboard. The operating system communicates with the motherboard itself, so it's okay to use the same installation after changing other components like the HDD. However, when the mobo is a new one, it will definitely need a new genuine operating system. It's like changing the computer itself, so a license of a new OS software is required, indeed!

As for your second computer that has only a new HDD, you can surely re-install the same Windows version that was previously installed on that same motherboard. If you face any issues with the activation of the OS, you should refer to Microsoft's tech support for assistance.

Unfortunately, no. Two computers need two separate operating systems. Yes, it can be Windows 7 on both computers, however they have to be two GENUINE original Windows 7 installations. You can't activate the same installation and use the same product key on two different motherboards.

Good luck! Hope I was helpful.
